Our Little Prince Arrives

Alton Liam Briar arrived Monday, August 14, 2006 at 2:43 pm. He weighed in at 7 lb 12 oz and a whopping 22 inches-he's all leg, just like Cheri! The labor experience was an astounding journey beginning with a broken water and contractions through the night Saturday evening, continuing with a reprieve through Sunday for rest, walking and baking his birthday cake, and culminating with 16 hours of labor over Sunday night and into Monday afternoon. Cheri met her goal of having him naturally and ultimately found she was most comfortable laboring in the privacy of our bedroom so the midwife brought her equipment to us and he was born at the Briar Patch. Both Cheri and Alton are physically well and the three of us are settling in as we begin this new adventure.
